Description
Just for fun - obviously doesn't happen and I know Zegras isn't available. Also can't imagine MN moves their 24 1st.

But in terms of a video game trade, I do think it's at least somewhat amusing.

Détails additionnels:
Draft day trade. Pick is currently 7th OA.

ANA uses their own 1st for Celebrini, Eiserman or Demidov, and uses MN 1st for an eventual Spurgeon Replacement - [Dickinson, Levshunov, Buium, Jiricek].

Solves a short-term fix with Spurgeon helping stabilize the right-side and mentor their young D. Solves long-term fix by parlaying Z's value into a better position fit.

Firstov added to try and balance value but ancillary pieces could be negotiated.

Yeah man, I can't see the Ducks refusing to take a defenseman signed through his age 37 season (with a full NMC this season) and a prospect who is never going to play in the NHL to try find another Zegras in what's not a great draft this year.

That was sarcasm, in case it wasn't obvious.

Why would a NMC be a relevant point when it is stated that this occurs at the draft? (that was rhetorical, in case it wasn't obvious).

Not a great draft according to who? You can get phenomenal players in every draft at that position.

Correct. Both teams would, I'd assume.

And you can draft plenty of busts at the position too. Pulljujarvi, Juolevi, Glass, Andersson, Zadina, Boqvist, etc, etc.

Why would Anaheim give up Zegras when the biggest upside is we *MIGHT* draft another Zegras?

On top of that we have to eat the worst years of Spurgeons contract, and our compensation for that is a kid who didn't like playing in America so he went back to Russia.

I mean your team willing signed Radko Gudas and Alex Killorn through their 36 and 37 year old seasons, are we gonna act like their aging curves look better than Spurgeons lol?

Or is the plan to just throw massive AAV at guys like DeMelo or hold out a prayer that Ekblad will sign in a couple years?

I don't care that you'd reject - I think both teams would. But when your argument boils down to "busts can happen" and an irrelevant NMC, I don't think it's that shrewd of a counterpoint.

I’d love to see zebras in wild green but honestly I don’t see them as great trade partnere. The wild do have a lot of centers coming up the pipe line, especially if they think yurov would be a viable center. That being the case - marat, yurov, ek and rossi is a pretty sweet young stable of high talent centers. I think they would more likely be on the look for a high end wing or a top pair defender.than a puck wizard which is what they expected from granlund.

Yeah I would think a top 4 D is definitely the priority. You have Faber and then a bunch of question marks for anyone under 22. Assuming they don't win the lotto, I think they'll use their 1st this year on BPA that's a Dman.

this was just for fun during the 2nd intermission of that US game.

The point you are clearly missing is that you are asking Anaheim to give up Zegras, and the BEST case scenario is that we draft an equivalent player to Zegras, and we have the last years of Supurgeons deal. Does that risk reward scenario make any sense to you?

If it does, I'll give you Anaheims 24 1st, top 5 protected, Killorn, and some nothing prospect for Boldy.

That is objectively not the best case scenario. What an incredible thing to say.

I gotcha tho big dog, you reject the fake trade. Understood, thanks for stopping by.

It was less that he didn't like playing in America, and more that the kid just got homesick. Which is understandable given his age at the time. There were also reports that there was some kind of beef between him and the then now former coach Tim Army. And that played a large part in him leaving as well.

But, and here's where you're wrong. It's also been reported by Russo that he's amenable and open to coming back. He's just looking for an NHL spot rather than a AHL one. So while he'd probably be hesitant to come back and play for Minnesota. Given he probably feels blocked. Anaheim's situation actually plays into your favor in regards to potentially getting him to come over here again.

It doesn't change the outcome of the trade being shot down, obviously. Just what you said wasn't accurate, and I wanted to clarify. 🤷‍♂️
