This would be smart. This team still has holes and needs some players playing above expectations for their season. Thus better to buy small, and allow the cap space the increase to sign the needed players like Hronek, Peterson, etc.... as this team slowly changes this year and next, if they keep playing and improving under Tocchet, Vancouver can be ready to actually contend.
As much as advanced stats show a drop off, they have great building blocks. Miller, Peterson, hronek Hughes that will help all transitions.
