Description
Every goalie at Samsonov's cap or lower with a higher sv%
-non elc

Hey Leafs fans, I'm enjoying myself. But seriously something has got to happen with Samsonov because Jones ain't great either. Then Nylander is up at the end of this year. So how do you save the season while preserving some future??

Another question: Do yall have faith in Treliving to pull something off that will benefit your team?

Looking at his work in Calgary wouldn't give me much confidence, but that's me who knows?

Huberdeau was kind of a forced move, and on paper it was okay. What he didn't realize was the type of player Huby was to build a system and team around. Signing him for that long was a huge mistake.

Lafferty for a 5th because he'd made the team so cap strapped isn't looking great.

Monahan trade makes him look silly.

Jarnkrok trade looks pretty atrocious right now.

Anyway, most of Treliving's success came at or around the draft and free agency. Is that the war-time general the Leafs need? I'm not inclined at the moment to believe so.

I mean the answer is in house already. Analytics call Woll one of the better goalies in the league this season and you conveniently skipped him in your list which he qualifies for. 8th in the league in GSAx/60 with a minimum 10 games played. Fun fact is that if you lower it to 5 games played Jones is actually 6th in the league, he's been fine. Having him as a backup isn't the end of the world. The problem has a timer, can they pass for 1 month until Woll gets back? They've done ok without him and have a fair cushion being 2-3 points up on the closest teams in the Atlantic and having 2-3 games in hand on both of them as well. Beyond that, if they want to try something at goal in the short term to split with Jones, they have the 2nd best goalie in the AHL currently with 22 year old Hildeby. Giving him a shot at the big league is probably the short term answer. Goaltending isn't the end of the world problem like people are making it out to be, it's just the short term problem that they can withstand.

The real problem is the defense but you didn't really address it at all. Can the Leafs find 1 or 2 guys to give them a passable dcore? Sure. They have the assets to do it and it's a fairly robust market out there right now, lots of options.

FYI - IMO, He didn’t mention Woll because he is injured.

Sure but he still exists and is the longer term solution. The difference between this being a problem for the rest of the season and a problem for the next month is a rather big gap. Leaving Woll out of it all is a huge hole in his post.

Woll isn't on an ELC. His ELC ended in 20-21.
