No goalie is worth that much. Not even close.

Try and find a comparable for that Nylander to NYI trade. It's a ridiculous valuation and doesn't happen. If he were in early phases of an 8 year deal or something maybe but what you are trading here is 1 playoff run and maybe 1 extra years term on a new contract. Of course it's not that valuable.

The Islanders cannot afford to trade all those high draft picks, especially for a player on an expiring contract, whom they have no cap space for. They would have to make another trade to move salary, requiring them to fill another hole and they wouldn't have trade pieces left to do either.

Preds pass. Trading Saros sparks a retool at the very least. Kind of redundant to get Nylander when we could deal him for futures.
For reference, a package I'd see as fair would be a top prospect, middle 6 youngish player and goalie to make cap work and a 1st. It may seem like a lot, but you are getting arguably the best goalie in the NHL or a top 5 one at least.
