When he resigns can you do us all a favor and just stop being a leaf fan? Or better yet admit you aren't on and just love trolling?

You don't win cups with the Nylander's, just like his daddy. Would a guy who cared about winning not take the $8M that was offered on the table? It's a pay raise isn't it? That's what he wants right? A pay raise

It's all about money, nothing more, nothing less. Get him out of Toronto

Trust you? You thinking trading Liljegren for Peeke is a wise plan. That's a joke

Letting Nylander walk would send a very powerful message to the core, that they are not the golden geese who can do no wrong, would be interesting the year after when Mitch's new deal is up for negotiation. I imagine Tavares take a 6-7AAV deal for 4 years to re-up, the question being is Marner going to again base his salary expectations on Matthews deal.

How come everyone understands this but Leafs fans? I would rather be bad and send a message then to be pushed around whether it's with agents or in trade negotiations. The core four does not run this team, they never have and never will

Letting a superstar walk is always a bad idea. No matter how much you pay him, it will be worth it. You won't be able to replace his production with UFAs

I agree. Move him now or let him walk. Don’t need him and we would be more well rounded without him. Never seen a player only skate if the puck is in his stick and never gets demoted for playing like a lazy a$$

I think the problem is, the core 4 has been running this team for a while, and that's why letting them hear the branch creek is probably what's needed. You can't go full Oppenheimer on them, but Nylander seems the most logical choice of sacrificial lamb.

As to why Leaf fans don't get it? I dunno man, I've been watching a lot more hockey content on YouTube this year so my algorithm is throwing me all the broadcast and talking head shows from north of the border, I now understand how true the "But how does this affect the leafs" quip really is. No matter what move is made, a very vocal section of the fan ase will be in outrage.

I think the best case scenario is a PLD like trade. Get Nylander to agree to a not insane number ~9.5x8, and get back a bunch of younger pieces who have talent but have been shoved down the depth chart.

I'm neutral on resigning Nylander....of course it's also Nylander's choice as a UFA.
But the logic to think the players would be make the Leafs more successful is certainly iffy at best. The only player that reached a Cup final is Stephenson. And signing a 30 year old to a six year contract is unwise.
