If only Leafs could trade their mistakes to ‘any team’; somehow I don’t think it works that way. And why would the Pens gift an inter division team a goalie that is performing well and on a great contract 🤯

If the Hawks do move Dickinson instead of extending him, yes, a 2nd gets the deal done.

TDA and Lemiuex aren't bad contracts or mistakes... they are just excess goods on an incredibly deep team that could use the two extra roster spaces. For example, your former 1LW is now a 4LW because the canes are so deep
Because Alex Nedeljkovic isn't a good goalie and I can't see any team paying more than a third or fourth for him

Well good on your GM for giving Bunting that deal to play 4W. And DeAngelo & Lemieux aren’t mistakes, yet they were signed as feee agents but now deemed surplus goods? Seems like definition of mistake, no 🧐?
And Nedeljkovic is currently 18th in goals saved above expected per 60 and on a great contract; I couldn’t find a Canes goalie until # 47 (underwater btw) but yeah, I’m sure the Pens will flip him to a divisional rival for a 4th 🙄

I do not know how much Ned is worth on the market, but teams are not obliged to trade players under contract who add value to their team even in a depth or backup role. That is particularly true when it comes to trading players in division. If he adds value to his current team, you need to sweeten the deal to pry him loose unless the team is having a fire sale.

I'd be fine throwing in another pick for Ned... I just tried to pick a market value for him

Bunting was brought in to play throughout the lineup not just in the top 6... him, Teuvo, and Necas rotate around the top-6 and the fourth line depending on who's hot and he's scored quite fine for his deal (57 point pace). It's a smart thing that the Hurricanes have 7-8 top-6 caliber players on their roster because it means that Injuries won't mean that we have a lack of firepower like what happened last year.
TDA was brought in to fix the power play and that PP has worked well without him with the addition of Bunting and a restructuring of the system
Lemieux was brought in as a 12th forward while Svech was out at the beginning of the year and he's kind of outlived his usefulness
Ned's market value is a fourth... it might require a bit more for a division rival but it's not far off

It could be working better but it'll turn around... there's way too much talent on this team for it not to work and the goaltending will improve to the mean
