Arizona continues to scratch Valimaki and I think he'd be a huge addition to the third pair (or even try bumping him up with EK or Tanger)

Puljujarvi is still obviously up in the air but if he makes the team i think you stick him with Sid. If there is anyone that's going to get something out of him it's Crosby.

Greer would be a great add to the bottom 6.

I think Rem Pitlick needs to get a chance centering the 4th line. Having a solid season in the AHL and brings some good speed. If you bump Acciari to the wing (where i think he's better) plus the addition of Greer that would be a very good 4th line.

a lot of people won't agree with putting Rakell and Rust on the third line but it's really the only way the penguins can have depth with the cap constraints and personally I think Eller has played well this year and giving him good wingers in Rust and Rakell would make the third line 10x better.

Taxi Squad listed members can we waived or dealt.

I think this is the best way to build depth while also not moving many assets and IMO this team below would be vastly better than the start of the year. Would all just come down to how the power play performs.

DOC isn't a top 6 foward, but hes a good bottom 6 piece, ideally hes on a 4th line and imo is at worse a wash with Greer. Pens don't need to add more 4th line pieces, they need to find a good two way foward with a scoring touch for that 3rd line

Yeah but Greer isn't any better. I'm not sure what you mean by experiment - he was never expected to be a top 6 guy - he was put there because of injuries. DOC is what he is. A good 4th liner - possibly complimentary on the 3rd. If you can deal him for an upgrade though - then by all means do it. But this is a sideways move imo.

DOC hasn't really done anything to impress. Good forechecker, can skate pretty well but think both he and Z are bringing down the third line.

So expected goals per 60, DOC is 4th on the team behind Crosby, Guentzel, and Rust. Zohorna is 5th.

DOC is shooting 6% below his expected shooting percentage, so either he has an issue with finishing or he is unlucky. His current shooting % is 3%. His career average is 8%. I suspect he will turn it around.

I'm well aware of all of this, and all I'd say is that if DOC is 4th on the team in xG/60 and only has 2 goals..... that's not good. For him or for the team.

That third line has been so underwhelming though... like sure they've not given up many chances, but only 6 goals in 31 games... that's not good enough if the team wants to make the playoffs. I'm not against keeping DOC around as a 4LW at best but the Z experiment for me needs updated. They've got to try something else.

I don't think that they can make out of org additions to Center which is why I think Pitlick needs a chance to center the 4th, but they'd still need to figure out cap.

Again, he is shooting 3%. His average is 8%. Based on his high danger chances, he is getting unlucky similar to Rust last year.

That line doesn't have 6 goals in 31 games. They have 6 goals in 17 games, with a total time together of 119 min. That is 3.03 goals per 60 which is about the same as the Barbashev-Eichel-Marchessault line and slightly lower than the Bertuzzi-Tavares-Nylander line.

Objectively, DOC-Eller-Zohorna is one of the best lines in the NHL. 17th in expected goals per 60.

I'm fine with giving Pitlick a look but not at the expense of the Pens second best line.
