Hanifin has previously been dealt for 1,2,2 and that tends to be around the value for defensemen of his caliber. However it’s been reported that Calgary wants nhl ready plug and play prospects.

Berggren; selected just after the first round in 2018, is a skilled winger whom the red wings have shoved out of the lineup in favour of veterans. But he scored 15 goals last season and is nearly .5 ppg in ~80 games. He’s an nhler and is ready to play in an org that will let him.

Albert Johansson is a 2019 second round pick who skates really well and is solid defensively in the A. The org has been high on him becoming a good nhler.

Maatta is a body back for the blue line with minor term so the flames don’t have to go and sign a bunch of people while they retool just to fill gaps.

The second was the throw in.

Calgary wants a better prospect or player preferably a right shot forward. It's about quality and Calgary's needs not quantity and players/prospects you want to move but we aren't interested in.

Maatta would be acceptable as a cap balancer and player to fill a spot for a while but that's about it. His cap hit isn't too high, his contract isn't too long, he has good size and he's not terrible either. As for the prospects we don't want yet another left shot winger (already have a ton of those) or another smaller defenseman.

Calgary isn't giving up Hanifin for that and at the same time it's more than Detroit should spend.
