Trying to be as objective as possible (I’m a huge Canes fan but also a huge Nylander fan) - not sure why the 2nd is there. Considering Necas is an RFA that should make up for any value gap that is there.

I think where both teams are - it’s a fair move.

With how bad the Canes are on defence this year, I wouldn't move Pesce. However, I would gladly do this deal if I was the Leafs

Everyone wants a magic answer to everything, when the real issue is likely a combination of multiple different things.

I’d say that after figuring out Orlov-TDA couldn’t be a thing, their ‘Defenseman’ has been the furthest from their problem. Defense from their forwards has been an issue along with Goaltending saving the ones they should.

I’m not the right person to answer this as I’d do Necas/Pesce for Nylander all day long (reasons I’ve previously mentioned).

The whole team this year just seems to be in a funk. Which stinks, I love watching them

Hasn’t been good for sure…but when the canes give up chances they are whoppers. Go watch the goals given up to Vancouver…the first one is excusable (good plays by Van causing rebound and put back). The 2nd and 3rd have forwards watching slot shots and tap ins. The 4th is the only one that was on Raanta.
