Description
Piggy backing off of GiggywithGibby’s ACGM, my thoughts on Ducks needs in offseason. Top line RW is a must add. Ducks have always lacked goal scoring and they need to add someone there that can consistently contribute goals. Reinhart and Nylander are UFA options that aren’t the perfect age but would still fit. Ducks could afford either should they hit the market.

But I think if a a star becomes available that could fit that role the ducks should be open to moving their 1st plus on of their D prospects not named Mintyukov to get them. I have no idea who would be available that’s worth that price tho. A guy like Konecny could be had for less and isn’t quite the star. A guy like Kaprizov probably isn’t available and might cost a bit more.

The D core is solid with Mintyukov and LaCombe when he’s on the left plus Luneau looking better and better each game and Gudas for a couple more seasons.

Are you alluding to Keller? I don't see the yores moving him for anyone at this point. They have plenty of picks and prospects and should be looking to add to what their current core.

No way Nylander signs for less than 10.5

Not necessarily, we can't use Anaheim as a stand in team since it's an Anaheim ACGM. Arizona is next on the list. As to Nylander, point is, we can afford him, even at 10.5, or 11.25.

Laine, Tippet, Boldy, maybe NJ wants to move Holtz to reset their cap timer.

If we're trading away the 24 1st I don't know that I would offer Drysdale until I know Luneau works out, were to light on right to give up both those pieces.

AZ is just a stand in for the trade.

I'd put mercer/holtz on the table but that package would presumably be forwarded on in a 3 team deal to get a true hammer of a goalie at a reasonable cap hit, or a quality, cost controlled hammer to play 2LD

I want a star that’s why Zellweger or Drysdale is included. If its someone like Konecny then maybe the 1st isn’t included and just a prospect and later pick.

I'm fine with Zelle being used, and I agree we'd need a star talent, I just don't think we can afford to give up a fairly early 1st in a strong RHD draft, and another RHD on top of that, we'll be in the same pickle as the 2013-2018 Ducks, constantly searching for a #1RHD. Luneau's improving but his advanced metrics are BAD defensively.

The possible difference would be the team being able to actually score. Even when the ducks were good from 13-17 they couldn’t score.

As for Luneau, I haven’t looked at the numbers but part of it is he should be playing in the AHL but isn’t eligible and is instead playing with Fowler getting some high end match ups. The improvement from the eye test from game to last night was pretty big which is pretty good being that he has like a month off between games.

There’s also the possibility of signing one of the 1RWs and then using that package for a stud 1RD.

There's a lot of reasons for him to sign here man, why do you think he's been linked to us in so many podcasts and articles about his future? We have arguably the hottest young core in the entire NHL, the kind of core to be a serious threat for the next decade, we can throw the bank at him salary wise, we are the land of eternal sunshine and beaches, we're a 30 minute drive from the entertainment capital of the world, etc. etc. when Dougie Hamilton signed that deal in NJ the team was coming off a season they finished 7th in the standings, but it's clear the pieces were there for them to start jumping up the standings. We're sitting in the same spot.
