If the Pens sell, this is more than fair.

"Hey Ned... Remember that time you had an amazing year but we didn't think you were that good and we didn't want to pay you, so we ended up firing you to the moon? Well turns out we were right and you really didn't perform up to your contract at all. Now we now find ourselves in quite a predicament and none of our goalies can save a beachball. To make up for firing you to the moon, we are going to pay MORE to get you as a half year rental, than we did when we originally traded you. So.... we good?"

I mean it would probably be more like a third or later but we need a goaltender who can play average hockey and he makes sense in terms of cap hit and years left

I assume he gets a 4th or a 5th at the deadline. 3rd is MAYBE possible but I doubt it.

Yes and Ned was a Calder finalist and put up sub 2 GAA and a .932 save percentage... you can put him with Kochetkov and you can half a half way decent tandem. I get he's a little small but he's generally produced well at the NHL level

Then we watched him be awful in the playoffs

I mean a .920 save percentage doesn't exactly reflect that fact. Like I get he's a small goalie but he's been better than either of the goalies that are currently healthy

Probably but he makes a lot of sense cap wise and it's only one year and I know that it's a massive overpayment

As i've said previously in this thread... that was a bit of an overestimate of the price... it'll probably be a mid to late round pick

I don't get why tbh. He seems like a good goaltender has put up very good numbers in our system both in the playoffs and regular season and he can't be worse than what we're currently running out there.
