What does it accomplish for the Blues? It sets us back 3+ years. We lose a 1st liner for a long shot on a late 1st, a reclamation project, and a prospect that has very little a chance of making any impact given where our forward prospect pool is currently at all while taking on Pageaus contract.

We need young defenseman who have a good chance at being top 4 guys. Otherwise we’re better off middling and at least having a chance to be competitive in the near future.

I would be fine if Doug came out tomorrow and said we were wrong with our estimated timeline and it’s looking more like a 5 year turnaround instead of a 2-3 year turnaround. And then proceeded shipping guys out.

I would be extremely unsettled if he traded our best trade asset that’s over 25 for that return and are the money on Pageau on top. We have a lot of really promising forward prospects. That’s my point. The pick is fine yeah. But adding two right wing prospects, one of which is approaching busting quickly (not saying he’s there yet or will 100% get there), and the other is more of a B-/C level prospect is underwhelming to say the least. Now factor in on top of that our two top prospects are Snuggerud and Dvorsky who are a center and a right wing, Thomas and Kyrou are locked up long term as well, and what has that left us with?

The 1st, a massive downgrade from Buch to Pageau, and an extra year of term on to the contract obligations that we had on Buchnevich.
