Riemer's anti gay Bigotry likely means he has no place in TO ever again.

I’m very sorry but anyone that adds Kessel to the Leafs does not watch this team. If you were a fan that watched the games, you wouldn’t say,” hey this soft team with all this talent that can’t score, should add Kessel”. Reimer too? Did you take a 5 year hiatus from watching hockey?

Forcing people to support causes is bizarre. With all the other non-hockey causes the NHL has endorsed in the past, how many of them were screaming that not all NHL players supported them. There is only one cause that tries to make it all about them whether it is war, sports, education, religion,... Interesting to see that it is the one thing you focused on with an athelete being discussed on a sports hockey site

Get with the times, this isn't a "cause" it's a demographic of people that have been persecuted for decades. How many NHL players are standing up and saying "I am against Christians!" None. But there are many players saying they are against the LGBTQ community. And that is exactly what they are saying. Hide behind whatever bull**** reason you want but it's discrimination and it's not acceptable. The NHL is on the wrong side of this and it's only making the league look stupid. Riemer can believe what he wants but keep it to himself. Because when you stand up and say, "Homosexuality is a sin" which is exactly what he is saying that is the same as saying "they will burn in hell for this perversion" and that's not acceptable. Anyone who disagrees needs to get their head straight.

It's the same thing as race man. If the league wants to end racism within the league, thats good but if some white guy says, "nah I disagree" are you going to be okay with that? Because this is the same

W. Not a topic where there's a middle ground. Precisely why I want him out of Detroit. Plus he's not particularly a good goalie. Dude is just a back up

Zero middle ground, either you get it or you are part of the problem. Cheers bud

So this is a Christianity vs LGBTQ issue and the most effective forum to advance this is the sports realm and specifically hockey in our case? I guess that I would like to see that dealt with in a place where they are able to meaningful discussions between the people involved so that the hurts, frustrations, anger, misunderstandings and prejudices can be aired in a respectful and brutally honest way. If Christians still don't agree , well they are told to love their enemies...so they should be willing to support, love and help no matter how extreme their view ends up being.

25 - 30 years ago when my brother was helping with the Pride parade here in our smallish city, he and his friends got pushed out of the organizing by people who weren't even in their community with an agenda to make their point/profits. It was sad and unjust. I will not forget that.

A few years ago my mom died of cancer which is a ruthless disease that has touched most people in the world somehow. I still miss her and grieve. When I go to a hockey game I am not seeing that as a platform to promote that. I donate to research and help folks in my city through volunteering but I see sports as entertainment not a place to declare injustices, political activism or bigotry.

The extremes in beliefs don't bother me whether in politics right/left, atheism/agnostic/religioius, etc. In my mind strong friendships are built by building relationship with people who have diverse beliefs from yourself but most things I see online are polarizing with one group saying the other is ignorant, evil, conspirisists, etc.

I appreciate you expressing your point. I guess we will disagree on the non-hockey point that bigotry is angering you and this bigotry is the cause that is being addressed by the special night to reach out to the LGBTQ.

On the hockey side, I think Reimer is on the wrong side of 30 and as @JoeROFLCOPTER pointed out he is only a backup at this point not a player who Treliving should be looking at to stabalize the Leafs net.
