No I think the first is necessary because Holloway and Lavoie haven't proven anything at the NHL level and Foegele is just a trade chip for Montreal while Edmonton is in desperate need of a top pairing stay at home defensemen and a goalie to help save their season which is what they are getting here plus money is being retained on Savard's contract which increases his value. so I think because Edmonton is so desperate for what Montreal has while Montreal really has no reason to help Edmonton out and what their receiving is unproven the first is appropriate.

Montembeault is worth a 3rd, Savard is worth maybe a 2nd.

So its Foegele, Lavoie, Holloway and a 1st for a 2nd, two 3rds, and a 4th?

Idk if you've heard but recent mock trades for edmonton to get monty have been a first and a top prospect because edmonton is so desperate it does not matter what his league wide value is its how much will edmonton pay which that seems to the price and so that leaves savard with 875,000 retained for 2 years a third and a fourth for holloway and foegele which I think is very fair if not an overpay on montreals end espically considering how much edmonton also needs a defender
