Jets have a good top 6 already, adding Nylander would be in the ballpark of diminishing returns. Signing him at 11.5 would also mean that the Jets would have trouble fitting Connor, Perfetti, Ehlers, and Vilardi under the cap in the coming seasons.

If this is a deadline deal it makes even less sense. Top 6 wingers are not anything the Jets are short of, but they need another right-handed defenceman. Trading away DeMelo screws us over double because he's the kind of stay-at-home player that pairs well with Morrissey.

Sending away our FWD depth, our best RHD, two 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders for a top 6 winger is not gonna help the Jets.

Can't speak on behalf of anyone but the Jets. I would be lying if I said I wasn't interested on what the return ends up being if he's traded though. It's all that gets talked about during Jets pregame anyway lol.

Needs to be a team in need of a gamebreaker. And now that we’re in the middle of the season they’d have to send back a right handed defenceman at least. Plus draft capital to make it fair so the team also cant be rebuilding. Its a rare combination - being on the cusp of being a good team, somewhat offensively handicapped, with a disposable right handed top 4 dman. Thought maybe the kraken too, doubt it though.

And then if you’re the leafs its not really worth it to ship out one of your best players when you’re contending for a cup. Chance of a deal is slim to none. Havent even mentioned willys no trade list
