CGY only takes Klingberg to get the 1st out of tor, why would you give up 2 3rds? Zadorov is probably worth a really good 3rd or a late 2nd with retention, or a 1st with a cap dump like Klingberg, but again, why would you add 2 3rds?

Pageau and a 1st is not worth those players, who are collectively meh AND 2 2nds. So forget the 2 3rds in the TOR deal and dont do the NYI deal and while you've only lost 1 1st and a middling 3C, you've gained 2 2nds and 2 3rds. Its just too much for Pageau, who NYI probably needs to shed his salary anyways

Also, you can only retain on 3 players, not the 6 you have above, which changes things dramatically.

And bear in mind theres only so much icetime/development time at any given point and you'd rather have your picks spread through a few years, rather than 1 year of 6 1sts and not much else over the next few years/rounds.

Moser isn't going anywhere, he's just as valuable or more valuable than Hanifin on the open market.

I might be sleeping on Feheravy, but even if he's an amazing DFD, that's not the return that CGY should be looking to get out of Lindholm.

Even if those two CGY 3rds end up up being 65 OV and the Leafs' 1st 32OV the difference is still a 2nd pick (17-18), so it's like getting the Leafs 2nd+ a 3rd (75th OV) for Zadorov. So, it's a pretty good deal for the Flames considering that in a bubble Klingberg is probably just as valuable as Zadorov, and the fact that there's a lot of upside to him but if he doesn't do well then it doesn't matter since his deal is expiring.

There's no reason for Arizona to trade a first for Hanifin - they're on the bubble for a playoff spot, he's a rental that likely would not re-sign there, and he has an 8-team no-trade that 99% has Arizona on it.
There's no reason to make that big of a push when they're still building.
