I mean there are lots of reasons this trade won't happen, but I feel like we shouldn't pretend that kaako has a ton of value at this point. I feel like the valid criticisms are Quinn won't want him, rangers won't wanna sell low, and Duke has had a bad start. But its not got anything to do with kaapo's play thats for sure.

Kakko is already above average defensively playing against top line players. You don’t see that often at age 22. They can continue developing him instead of a lowball offer

They don’t need him to be a top 6 guys this season. They love his defensive ability and 3rd line is just fine for the time being. Imagine thinking a team with the 2nd best record in the league needing to trade a young player because he hasn’t hit the target expectations yet and is still performing well for a 2.1M cap hit. Oh yeah absolutely he's a bust, he's not a high end defensive player, playing on a shut down line with a 4th center, because our 3c is injured. Its not like Kakko and Cuylle aren't absolutely dominating the other teams lines and putting up absurd possession numbers.

Kakko isn't a bust, he's just never going to put up 70 points unless he gets power play time. But he's also elite defensively and strong offensively in terms of puck posession. .
