He looked good in pre-season. So did Fraser Minten. So did Jack Campbell. Look at where they are now. Pre-season doesn’t mean anything. With Toronto’s cap situation and Timmins’ injury history they’d be looking at a 4th and maybe a prospect that has a long shot of making it. But they don’t really have much leverage if they shop him so don’t expect anything like a 3rd.

Beats losing him to waivers. You’re 100% right, injuries are a major concern. Puck moving 5/6 D for 1.1m who is a RFA are certainly in demand. I think of Durzi who was so undervalued popping off this season, maybe a GM sees Timmins who has similar potential.

There is no way in hell that Timmins returns a borderline 1st. Besides, the Canes are already overloaded at D, and with his injury history, he would have to beat out Coghlan to be the 8th D.
