1. This one is awful in value for Ottawa
- We don't even know where that 2024 1st round pick (OTT) pick will end up, considering all the injuries already and the management/coaching staff situation
- Jarventie is probably the best Sens prospect once Greig graduates (which he is doing this season). He is a LEGIT Top-6 prospect. He was an early 2nd and his stock has gone up since.
- Erik Brannstrom literally crushed 3rd pairing role last season in his 23 y/o season.
- Jacob Bernard-Docker doesn't have a ton of value but has been doing well since his call-up, good GFA/60 and xGFA/60 stats, despite a lot of minutes and a hard task
- Larsson is an excellent defensive D-man but he is 31 y/o and has ONE year left after this season
- Bjorkstrand is very good middle-six winger but is 28 y/o and has TWO years left after this season
Now Thomas Chabot... I mean, the guy is 2nd in TOI/GP since 2018-19, 18th in PPG among D-men. He is Elite in transition and drives offense like few do. He is not perfect defensively and some people focus on that but D-men who drive the offense and excel in transition don't spend as much time defending... which is something some just don't realize.
I would like to have Larsson to play him WITH Chabot... but I would NOT trade Chabot for Larsson/Bjorkstrand considering age/contracts so imagine adding Jarventie, a 1st and Brannstrom for that, HARD decline
2. This one is more fair but I wouldn't do it (unless I'd knew 99.9% that Konecny would extend in Ottawa at a reasonable contract)
- Deslauriers and Mete have zero value. I would not want to add Deslauriers contract actually. Let's say Lassi Thomson doesn't have value left too
- Konecny vs Batherson, TK has better value right now BUT he only has ONE year after the season while Batherson has 3 more seasons under 5.0 AAV
So What would be the difference in value between the 2? Let's be GENEROUS and say that it is 2024 1st round pick (DET) + Kubalik (which was basically the return for DeBrincat)
- What is Oliver Bonk worth? Zack Ostapchuk, Tyler Boucher and 2025 2nd round pick (OTT)?
3. Immediate no. Ottawa does NOT want to swap Forsberg for Blackwood while spending a 4th round pick too. Even if they wanted, they can't because their newly guy signed 5 years would be pissed (as he signed in Ottawa to play with his long time buddy), which would hurt the capacity of attracting UFAs really badly.
