Has not looked as good at Prov. Not horrible, but the mistakes are there. He needs more time. Unless they are cooking up a move with Forbort it makes little sense. Being waiver exempt helps his cause to come up for a couple of games but i’d rather when he comes up it’s for good.
Mitchell showed he can’t play the left hand side. The only reason to bring Lohrei up would probably be tied to how injured Forbort is. If he’s not healthy, I could easily see them going this will be a good learning experience for Lohrei. Also, could some of Lohrei’s struggles be tied to a level of disappointment? From my perspective, the support structure and mentorship possibilities are better in Boston. One item that is underrated is the things players can learn at the NHL level vs the AHL level. As long as Lohrei is playing, I’m OK with him up in Boston. I kind of prefer it because I think he can learn more from a Shattenkirk than his line mates in Providence.
My assumption is we’ve signed Heinen and the delay was to get the daily cap benefit of the difference between Zboril and Mitchell’s salary. The time was both an audition for Poitras and Mitchell. You could substitute Lohrei and Zboril with the cap equation.
