Lightning have a solid tandem when Vasilevskiy returns, and a veteran to help Johansson for now (in NHL experience, I know Johansson is older). They replace Jeannot with a similar guy in Walker Duehr, who they may be able to turn into a 3rd line guy like they had in Coleman the one cup run.

Flames make room for Dustin Wolf, replace Duehr with Jeannot up front, and get a 2nd rounder in 2025.

Calgary forwards now, versus when healthy smile

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Coronato
Dube - Kadri - Mangiapane
Jeannot/S - Backlund - Coleman
Sharangovich/J - Ruzicka - Greer

Not sure either team would do this especially Tampa having given up 6 assets to get Jeannot in trade!

Well, that may factor in to Tampa's decision, mentally.. but that was then, and this is now.. Jeannot has had the one season with a high of 24 goals and 41 points, and has had a decent start to this season with 3 points in 5 games, but the Lightning obviously overpaid for him, and given their circumstances at the time, they took that gamble. No team should hold themselves to that standard though, in their negotiations for him. They didn't choose to set that market!

Certainly not saying Jeannot is a poor player, but Duehr is indeed a similar TYPE of player, and under Cooper's tutelage, and in a championship locker room, he could become very valuable at a lower price than Jeannot.

The goalie argument wasn't made by you in your post, but I will say, it really is perfectly debatable whether taking on Vladar and his cap (even in a lateral cap swap like this) is in the Lightning's interest, but it's worth a go.

P.S. I know Mox won't like it because it brings in a left shot at the expense of a right shot lol.

Actually I don't like it because I really like Walker Dueher! The 4th line has been very good since they moved Sharangovich to center Dueher and Greer. Dueher and Ruzicka are two young players I wouldn't want to trade at all unless it was for a stupidly good offer.

That conversation goes something like this
GMCC: How about says above.
GMJBB: Hell No.
You think TB overpaid I guarantee TB management doesn't.

The issueis"overpaid" v. "Underpaid" won't be known for years. Jeannot was protected by NSH in the expansion draft and people wondered why at first, but after his break out season it seemed to make more sense. TBL set the market to ensure they git the player they wanted. Right now they have no reason to trade him. If he underperformed by the TDL then maybe they would look at even considering it, but definitely not now

Debatable but if anyone wants Duehr they'll have to overpay for him for sure. He's an undrafted late bloomer nobody really knows where his ceiling is yet. That 2nd (likely a late one) might be enough to get Vladar though.

That's fine he's our Darren Raddysh. People on here drastically undervalue him. Keep Vladar at that cap hit or acquisition cost he's not a viable option. TB isn't as concerned about the goaltending as Cap friendly is. There were much better options for free were they truly concerned. If you've watched TB this year it's been the turnovers not the goaltending. Johansson has allowed one questionable goal. Raymond beat him 5 hole other than that not one you say damn he should have stopped that.

I wish I could say that about my team's 6 mil "starter". I knew signing Marky to that ridiculous 6x6 was a mistake from the very beginning. Bonehead Brad should have just resigned Talbot for 3 years at 3-3.5 mil. I said so at the time too!
