Just what the Kings need...a 4th backup goaltender.

If the Kings do trade for Vladar for some dumb reason, then Calgary will need to take either Talbot or Rittich back.

NYR pass. They don’t need to waste a pick or cap for Copley who’s numbers aren’t even that much better than Quick’s last few years

They would just call up Domingues from the AHL

Vladar actually had worse number than all of Copley, Talbot, and Rittich last season AND is more expensive. Not sure why LA would pay for Calgary to have a stronger tandem with Wolf.

He also faced strictly less shots per game because Calgary rarely let a low quality shots get to the net. Im not saying he's a better option but at this point its about finding anything that works

Similar story with Copley, I actually think Talbot is going to be fine. His goals allowed against the Avs weren't exactly soft (well maybe one), but the majority looked like he will serve as a .900ish goaltender. The Kings will need an answer by the trade deadline, but options like Vladar seem like lateral moves.

I really think they should ve all over Carter Hart personally

Money won’t work and the price tag is likely too high, at least for this season. I think they take a run at Lankinen. He will be the same price and has much better metrics.

Talbot also put on an impressive showing yesterday, so the urgency has definitely gone down some.

IMO Lankinen is just more of the same. Hart can be retained on and is just entering his prime. He's also become criminally underrated on this site because of the team he plays on. But if you think he's too expensive next year then I can understand the problem. I guess it depends on how much more Byfield and Kaliyev are going to make

To me the part that feels off, is that Hart will want a big pay raise, and Blake is still paying and frustrated with himself for what he gave Cal Petersen without seeing him act as the team's starter. Blake has made mistakes, but he doesn't often repeat them. Whatever player gets extended with the Kings, they need to take over the goaltending for 20-30 games and win some playoff games before getting a big contract.

I think Blake that the Wild got Gustavsson and the Knights got Hill for really no huge payment or cap hit and figured if you have a strong defense, a good backup could be all you need without spending big assets. For the value, I think the Talbot bet will work fine for this season, he was arguably the Kings best player yesterday.

Lankinen put up a 0.916 last season, Askarov is coming, much more of a no-brainer to me over Vladar.

There is a massive difference between Petersen and Hart though. 1 of them is a bona fide NHL starter with great metrics on a **** team, the other was literally waived by the same team earlier this month. I understand your point about the Wild and Knights though. You can get by with average goaltending if you have a strong defense but you do need at least 1 of 2 and at least 2 of strong goaltending, strong offense, and strong goaltending to be a contender

Askarov is still a year or 2 away from making the NHL. they might sell Lankanen at the deadline but probably not any time sooner

Yeah, honestly almost any Kings fan was on board with all the money going to a #1 goalie or at least reupping Korpisalo. But with so much spent on PLD and Gavrikov, I think we have to just go with this vision, at the very least for this season.
