I don't understand your logic, and I think it's because of how poorly you rate Ceci and/or Foegele.
A 50%-retained DeMelo at the deadline will fetch a first round pick. A half-retained Scheifele is fetching a first, an A prospect, and a live body to balance out the salary cap. The gap here is supposedly one of the contracts Edmonton is sending back to Winnipeg. You present this as a chasm, whereas that's just simply not true. Being hyperbolic is why half of the forums can't stand you. Maybe it's time for a different approach.
Personally, I don't think either teams are good fits to be trading with each other until Winnipeg demonstrates whether or not it is or isn't a playoff team. At that point, I'd take a flyer on DeMelo and I'd be looking into Ehlers further than I would be Scheifele.
Neither Ceci or Foegele have value. At best both are zero value players. Then as you pointed out that offer is barely offering TDL value for DeMelo and Scheifele and is expecting the Jets to trade them both now with a full year of retention on Scheifele.
It's basically asking Winnipeg to give up two high quality players and throw away $12 mil in cap space over two years without being paid for that cap space.
You've just got the typical hopes and wishes of every fan, thinking that an offer of pieces you want to throw away will get you impact players from other teams. That doesn't happen in real life.
If the Jets are trading Scheifele and DeMelo it signals a retool or rebuild, so older deadweight, that the jets aren't being paid to take, wouldn't be attractive. The Jets would be looking at young players/prospects to go along with picks.
