I was a little surprised as well. Meier and Holtz are both shoot first players and Hischier is going to log the most difficult minutes on ice. I think Holtz’s skill set would be better served with Bratt and Hughes, but giving Holtz any Top 6 minutes is a win in my book. This is big season for him and I hope he flourishes!

Putting Holtz in that situation makes a ton of sense to me. Either on that line or the Hughes line. Give him all the opportunity in the world to succeed. Give him at least 20 games in the top 6 and go from there.

I would think Hughes worked on his face offs during the offseason and this would be a line that would take offensive draws for the most part. Haula, Hughes, Holtz is a good line as well and you can bump Mercer to center.

100%. Give him every chance to succeed. It’s really now or never at this point and this team needs a right handed sniper for the long term.
