This is not a trade that's good for Detroit.

No they don't but Detroit does. Put at least 25% retention on Boeser no retention on Fabbri and they should consider it.

Yes the Canucks do pass. No reason for them to downgrade on the wing to add a 3rd pair LHD that’ll just block Hirose from getting NHL minutes

That's not a downgrade it's a Vancouver cap dump. You have to pay to dump cap especially now when the cap hasn't gone up much in years.

Boeser isn’t a cap dump, he’s about 1M overpaid. If you want to talk about cap dumps we can talk Huberdeau, Kadri, Coleman, or essentially any Calgary forward that isn’t a pending UFA who’s about to leave after this season

Boeser is overpaid by about 2 million per year. Nobody is taking him without retention. The Flames their players and what any of them are or are not worth has absolutely nothing to do with that.

However speaking bluntly while Huberdeau is overpaid by about a million a year (assuming he bounces back to around his career average production) and Kadri by less than that only a fool or a liar would say "Coleman, or essentially any Calgary forward that isn’t a pending UFA" is a cap dump.

And no everybody who's a UFA in Calgary isn't about to leave after the season. Maybe you should worry about your own team's pending RFA Elias Pettersson not being extended yet before slinging mud at another team.

If Huberdeau bounces back to his career average (about 1PPG) he’d be overpaid by 2-2.5M. But is he really gonna bounce back at age 30? If he doesn’t it would be arguably the worst contract in the NHL

Kadri is overpaid by 2M. He’s a 50 point 2C who’s not good defensively

Coleman getting 5M a season for another 4 seasons to put up 35 points is rough. Yes he’s good defensively, but at that money you need more offensive production

Pettersson will sign long term I’m not worried about that. The Flames are losing Hanifin and Backlund, and possibly Lindholm as well. Even signing Lindholm to 8x8.5-9M would add yet another terrible long term deal to the Flames, which they already have signed an abundance of them in recent years (Huberdeau, Kadri, Markstrom, Coleman)

You must be one of those guys who thinks the only thing that matters is points in the personal scoring race. You don't care about leadership, grit, two way play, checking, hitting or anything but the number of goals and assists a player gets. Boeser is soft, slow, doesn't drive play and is useless without the pick. I'll take Blake Coleman over Brock Boeser at the same salary any time. Last year Coleman had 38 points and + 9 in a 3rd line shutdown role Boeser had 55 points and -20 in a top 6 purely offensive role.

Regardless of what you think Flames players are or are not worth this isn't about players Calgary isn't trying to move. It's about Brock Boeser a player your team has been desperately trying to move for more than 2 years now. If Boeser was worth his salary he'd be long gone by now.

Maatta is the odd man out on Detroit's backend. I'd rather see Chiarot go but Yzerman likes his stye of playing NO ONE wants him on his current contract. Ghost, Chiarot, Holl and Petry are there to fill holes and that is about it. Personally from Detroit's pov I'd pass on Fabbri plays well when healthy or he is on LTIR. Fabbri has the same term left as Boeser but he's $2M cheeper. If Yzerman wants to move Maatta he will have no problem doing so.

Just from a cap space perspective, VAN would need to add a first and a prospect for DET to that much cap space (i.e. Retaining on Fabbro; VAN not retaining on Boeser)

As it sits, Canucks have to add a fair bit, or less retained from the Wings.

I could see no retained Boeser + (picks?)
for Fab and Olli
