Detroit is not the right destination for Marner. Send him to a team that it won't matter too much if he re-signs or not.

But if he would re-sign… Larkin and him are buds and Cat as the trigger man sounds lethal.

That's a big if you're relying on. If he re-signs, yeah of course.
If he doesn't re-sign, then a rebuilding team is out 2 firsts. I like what we have in terms of prospects, but goaltending, RD, and some top wing depth certainly leaves a lot to be desired.

Oh yes I agree, but I don’t think a deal of that magnitude wouldn’t have those details hammered out. I have no inclination that Marner even wants to be anywhere else.

In a vacuum, that’s a win for Detroit. Chiarot gone…husso (stop gap goalie) doesn’t hurt long term plans. Soderblom would be a blow, as would the firsts, but Marner weakens those picks. It would basically signal that the current prospects in the organization are the horses they’re betting on.
