Back up is the biggest glaring need to me, that can actually be solved.
Tampa has poor depth overall.
They are missing one true top 6 forward. 1 Top 4 RD.
Getting both of those pieces starts slotting other guys in the right place and improves their depth quite bit. BUT they don't have the cap or resources to do that. Hopefully they can get lucky and get Kane around the 1m mark. That will help their forward group alot.
Tampa is going to have some trouble this year... UNLESS they have some prospects who take huge steps up.
Tampa has no issues on RD, as Perbix and Cernak are more than capable in a top 4 role, and between Raddysh and Bogo they are fine beyond that as well. The plan is likely to have one of Sheary or Jeannot take the top 6 W spot, and Sheary especially has shown he can excel in that role with talented linemates. Some promotions, possibly ABB, Merela, Goncalves etc, could also factor in.
Tampa isnt as deep as the 2 Cup teams(wherenthey were clearly ahead of everyone), but they are still deep enough for another Cup run. They can still match their lineup with pretty much anyone in the Atlantic and the East, and I only see a couple of teams in the West that are potentially concerning. I'll still.take Point, Kuch, Stamkos, Hagel, Cirelli, Paul, Jeannot, Sheary, Hedman, Serg, Cernak and Perbix, plus arguably the best G in the game, against most teams when it matters. The fact that the team also had mostly a full summer to rest and get healthy is also a big factor for them after 3 years of deep runs.
I doubt they get Kane unless Kane really has them at the top of his list. They probabaly move Fleury before Bogo to save some cap, and while DeSmith wouldn't be a bad option, they seem to believe in Johannsen for now, and they likely want to keep that small amount of cap flexibility open for the TDL. Moving Myers should be done though to gain an additional 250k, and a 6th should be enough given its only 250k in cp if the acquiring team plans on burying him with their AHL affiliate.
