I tend to agree, but we're absolutely not retaining any salary for Kubalik, as we need at least 2.5 to get Pinto done and 850ish for Sokolov.
For Kubalik, we shouldn't have to but I wanted to point out that we COULD if we had to
Sokolov is not guarantied a roster spot yet, we might just lose him on waivers, both him and Thomson
If he makes the team, it's most likely Parker Kelly who will be sent down so no effect on the cap or very minimal (maybe 100 K$ more for Sokolov?)
Pinto should not get more than 1.5 AAV on a 1 year deal. Look at all the other comparables (I just quoted you in another thread on that subject)
If Dorion can't convince Pinto for that, it means that one of the two is really missing the boat. Why? Because Pinto could sign his next contract as soon as January, in 3.5 months...
If Pinto's agent knows what he is doing, Pinto could make more as soon as next season vs if they sign now 2.5 x 2 years. Let's say he signs 4.5 AAV long term (ala Colin White)
2.5 x 2 = 5.0
1.5 + 4.5 = 6.0
I mean, it works well for both sides.

I'll respectfully point out that although you have some good takes, you don't have all the answers so don't assume anything that isn't your opinion is a collective hive mind and not smart.
Of course I don't have all the answers, I actually only have FACTS I can rely on. What I meant was more about the "crowd effect", something I have witnessed a lot in my life. Take the riots in Montreal after a Habs series win against Boston for example. The ripple effect made them become dumber
Some of the things you see on CF ends up a bit the same way, starts as a little random idea, then something comes up in an article, then another idea is born and then it becomes more and more, never stops until it becomes ridiculous.
That's why you have some posters asking for a 1st OR two 2nds OR a
2nd + Greig to take on Joseph 9.3 M$ CAP DUMP lol
At the same time, they will ask a 1st + 2nd to trade you Scott freaking Laughton
At my age, I am not scared to say anything (well, never did) and I can say with confidence that this above is very dumb.
