Those spots are filled by Foote and Holtz 99.9% of the time. There are no open spots.

7th D is Smith unless Nemec is actually too good for the AHL, in which case it's Miller

There are no spots open stop the panic. The 4LW will be rotation of Nosek and Foote. Why do you not wanna give Holtz a chance. Last year he wasnt given a fair chance cuz of the way the team was playing so
just stop panicking. Nemec will be in teh AHL why would you have two rookies on Defense on a cup contending team...

RW3 is Holtz’s spot.

LW4/C4 will be rotated imo. If McLeod gets a suspension from the Team Canada case, I can see that line being Foote-Nosek-Bastian for that period of time.

Like some of the comments mention, the 2 forward openings likely go to Holtz, Foote or possibly Clarke.

As far D, I do think there's a possibility Nemec wins the 3rd pair RD job coming out of camp. But I think the most likely scenario is that Miller takes that spot right now, and Nemec comes up later in the season.

Unless if Nemec beats out both Miller and Smith, I'd rather he just starts in Utica. Bring him up if there's an injury and then see what we've got in him. I have a feeling though once he gets into the Devils lineup, he ain't leaving.

I think Foote is pretty much 100% getting the 4LW spot, rotating with Nosek or not. I want to say he is also no longer waiver exempt - which also plays a role there. Management and staff seemed pretty high/happy with his year last year and expect him to play there this year (from what I have read, that's what it sounds like in my opinion).

As for the Top 9 opening, I think it's Holtz spot to lose. Unless he completely falls apart in pre season or someone like Clarke just outperforms him (not impossible - again everyone seemed to be pretty happy with Clarke as well). But I think heading into camp it's Holtz. But, If Clarke stands on his head and takes that last spot, its not the end of the world for Holtz, he didn't play much last year so starting the year in the A and coming up the first chance he gets is fine. I am personally hoping he makes it from the get go and gets some legit minutes though.

Like others have mentioned, its top 6 or A for Nemec. Because of the numbers, He may have to wait for injuries or something else to happen before making the jump - Not because of his abilities, strictly a numbers game. That being said, an extra year in the A for a young defender is never a bad thing.
