Draisaitl is the first player in nhl history to record three or more points in five consecutive playoff games.
Draisaitl also holds the record for assists in a playoff series
How many records does matthews have again?
Matthews doesn't play with McDavid so it's irrelevant. Switch them and it would blow your mind. They couldn't be stopped by anyone. Mcdavid is damn near unstoppable with Draisaitl but Matthews shot and speed with McDavid 's explosiveness would be insane! Matthews scored 60 goals with Marner, how much better is McDavid as a linemates? Give credit where credit is due. Draisaitl is a star but no one else in hockey is in a better position to elevate his stats way beyond what he can do if he was the guy for a whole season. I would say and have said that about a lot of players who've succeeded next to Matthews and Marner and Nylander, Bunting was a good player but 4.5 million? Without linemates like Matthews and Marner, he's a 30 point agitator who sometimes loses his cool.
That's why I don't put as much stock in Draisaitl as Oiler fans do, it's because I absolutely see just how much McDavid makes it easier to rack up the points. Yeah he's a star for sure, but he plays nearly 40% of his 5v5 minutes still with McDavid and all his PP minutes with McDavid. Can anyone honestly say that isn't going to vastly inflate loads of players stats? There are quite a few guys I think could out perform Draisaitl, McKinnon and Matthews for sure would.
