you don't win the vezina with a lucky season. you need to have a minimum of skill. a first and prospect for one of the best goalie in the league is really fair value wise.

I think the trade for upcoming UFA toffoli, the Marino trade, the Meier trade , the palat signing, the haula extension all point towards NJ clearly wanting to compete. I don’t think acquiring a better goalie if that’s all they need to win is far fetched

You should look at Ullmark's numbers before last season. In his 3 years leading up to last season Ullmark at 5v5 ranked:

SV% - 7th
GAA - 8th
GSAA - 10th

Now is he going to put up record settings numbers like he did last year? No, but no goalie would. Ullmark right now though is still a Top 5 goalie in the NHL.

If they are not moving him for a #1 center then they are not moving him. And Novak is far from that.

hellebuyck over ullmark? someone who has two years left at 5M or someone who is asking 8.5M and is 31. imo ullmark better.

Both are top goalies, but Hellebuyck is elite every year whereas Ullmark is just above average most years. Ullmark trade comp would be Kuemper, so replace Vanecek with like a 3rd or 4th and retain
