Don't think the Avs would give a 4th for a guy who is more than likely going to be available on waivers at some point. Not saying I wouldn't like him for depth but I don't think he fetches a 4th as it stands.

He's a young RHD with offensive upside and NHL experience, on waivers he won't get anywhere near Colorado. He'll fetch a 4th from someone

We've had this debate though, he's a leg injury away from being a buyout candidate. He loses that speed, he's not an NHL player. He does nothing offensively, he takes dumb penalties, and the only reason he isn't a defensive liability is because he's faster than most attackers to get back

He is a fantastic bottom pair D who can play up temporarily in a pinch. IF you can get him for 2 mil per you do it everyday.

I'd be hesistent. He's already 27, I'd be much happier giving that chance to someone like Heimosalmi, Honka, Morrow. Maybe not Morrow in the same role, but Morrow's probably as natural a skater as Chatfield. I just think there's better ways to use that money, and allow a path into the NHL for some of the bright young talents on the backend we have. Let him go elsewhere.
