This is literally the year for the leafs.. why would they downgrade.. makes no sense. You may never see a cup, this is the best chance at it. A few added years of having Kakko isn’t worth it. If I could see the NYR win another cup this year I’d give up all assets for that cup and suck for 20-40 years after in a heartbeat

When you make a team you need it well rounded. Kampf is the 3rd line center, he literally takes all the d-zone faceoffs. So your expecting Domi's a below average defensive player who is a better winger to take on a role he shouldn't be playing. Does Kampf still take most of the d-zone faceoffs with Reaves as part of the shutdown line, not likely. Bottom six on your team. 3rd line Domi-Kampf-Raddysh 4th line Jarnkrok-Lafferty-Reaves.

I have no desire to see Nylander go but something has to be done about our crap cap situation. I’d be fine with sending Jarnkrok somewhere for minimal return as much as I like the guy. If Nylander were to go we would need a cheaper younger winger back and Kaapo is an example of that. Raddysh is also a diamond in the rough that I want to see in a Leafs sweater.

All good points and I was just thinking more of how to get a decent deal if one needs to happen rather than lines.

We can’t afford the next deal for Nylander. We’d be left with no RW’s if we moved Kakko and Nylander walked. Perrault is likely 3 years out as well.

Rangers have the same cap situation so if leafs can’t handle it then neither can NY. It’s the wrong destination. TOR is in their window to win, NYR are in the prelude to their window. And it’s only going to be considered as “window” because of guys like wheeler and one signing small discount deals to play there. Rangers wouldn’t move their pieces for the window today for a rental. Your expectations of a return is pretty solid but the deal with NYR doesn’t work.

I get it, it’s much like my old idea of reading him to Colorado straight up for Toews, rentals for everyone.
