Nice to see you continuing the Canuck tradition of having a few albatross contracts on the payroll.

Don't see Pens accepting. Only way they do is if they get a better winger to play with Sid.

Hronek and Guentzel. Would think any progressive GM (think Tulsky, Ventura, Fitzgerald, etc ) taking over in Vancouver would try and sell Boeser, Hronek & JTM within year 1. If you're able to open that cap up and draft/sign well for 2 years then you should have a cup contender. The Horvat deal was great but that Hronek deal really stopped that momentum.

Hronek’s contract in this ACGM isn’t that bad. He fits the age of our core and is a good top 4 RHD who’s been getting better each year

Guentzel’s contract isn’t great though I agree with that

I agree that the role he's playing is high (mostly because of VAN's dearth of RHD) but he was essentially a replacement level Dman from 19-20 -> 21-22 and he's being paid here like a top 20 RHD. That seems like objectively bad asset management.
Hard to see if given the option of paying Hronek like he's Josh Morrissey for 8 years or getting a mid 1st + a 2nd that a wise team would take the former...

hronek has been a top 4 cailbre D for a few years, 2023 was just the first year his Gar and xGar actually reflected his ability. if you watch hronek, you'll know he is capable of anchoring any 2nd pair in the NHL.

I like that you compared him to Josh Morrissey as if morrissey is obviously far superior. morrissey also struggled to maintain positve gar, xgar, war, and rapm numbers for a lot of his career before recently breaking out. Hronek at 6.45 will be a fine contract, nothing to worry about with it.

Guenztel contract his huge, i will grant you that. but a 40 goal scorer that you can acquire basically for free, its okay to give those types of players big money.

knowing dubas's MO, he tends to let players walk instead of paying them and trys to replace them with younger/cheaper options (Hyman, mikheyev, campbell, jvr, bozak, kerfoot, etc)

Still don't see it happening. Guentzel is Crosby's best winger and is the teams best winger so unless Guentzel is leaving and we are getting a winger that is better, than maybe. But I still don't think it would happen
