What? a first plus for Olofsson? Give me a good reason why they don't take that.

The Olofsson trade is more complicated than it needs to be
U can drop the 3rd & 5th going to the Sabres

U could take out the 6th & Lemieux part of the deal too,
    or keep it in, whatever

Relax everyone, it really is not that bad of a trade.
You do know over the last four seasons Boeser has played 583:45 more minutes than Olofsson but has one less goal (80 v Olofsson's 81).
Two seasons since they both signed new contracts each Boeser goal cost $309,302 while each Olofsson goal cost $197,917.
Last season Brock played over 60% of the time with one of Miller, Horvat or Petterson as his line mate.
Last season Victor played about 10% of the time with our top two centers Cozens or Thompson.
No one would wail nor gnash their teeth if the trade was for Boeser.

Last season he had more goals than DeBrincat yet he played 483 fewer minutes.
Finally, only 22 NHL forwards scored at a faster rate than victor's 1.6 goals/60 last year.
This is not to say Victor is better or even as good as Alex, just making the point that he is a very good sniper.

Too many Sabre fans try to give him away just as Leaf fans give away Brodie.
The Leaf fans to make cap space, Sabre fans to make roster space for Kulich, Savoie, Ostlund, Bensen etc.
Neither fans are looking at the value each bring to the ice.

    On to the trade.
If John Tavares could make Matt Moulson score 97 goals over a 3 year period, Victor would certainly get over 100.
It would then be the Leafs "building a statue of Treliving" outside of Scotiabank Arena.

Keep Lemieux in the trade to balance the roster, he may be useful on the fourth line or in Rochester.
Drop all of the picks other than the first and increase Buffalo's retention to 50% or $2,375,000 and it should be a fair trade for both parties.

Bruins probably don't hesitate on this trade. Boston is cap compliant now though so this is probably closer to what a trade looks like than it did a month ago. Still looks like a bit of an overpay.

Absolute overpay, and I like Forbort and I'm a Bs fan. Don Sweeney accepts, changes his phone number so he can't be tracked, moves into the mountains and retires.

I was trying to be kind, forbort is a great defenseman with obvious strengths and clear weaknesses. Bruins likely dont have the capital or desire to resign him as a bottom pairing and there for should look to trade before his contract is up. This puts boston in a weak position to get much higher than a mid to late draft pick or a middle of the road prospect. The trade above gives boston 4x that.

Olofsson is a fine middle 6 shooter but he's not much else. Bad possession metrics, not very good on the PP (despite supposedly taking a lot of one tees), bad in his own zone. He's very one-dimensional.

Buffalo is going to opt to keep him because they aren't crunched for cap and they will need to replace some of Quinn's scoring in the top 6 while he's out.
But if Buffalo was offered a first for him they'd take it and run. He's just not worth that. Maybe a 2nd from a contending team if they are desperate for scoring come the TDL and Buffalo opts to sell
