If Vancouver had the space, why wouldn't they just sign Dumba, saving themselves cap space and a draft pick, as well as creating the terms of the deal that they are ok with. People making these Brodie trades have to realize that other teams in the NHL are not just there to serve Toronto. I saw almost the exact same type of trade to at least 2 other teams so Toronto could then sign a cheaper Dumba.

It may cost a pick but Brodie could be a better add then Dumba. Brodie was one of the best shutdown Dmen in the league analytically and could be nice to pair with either Hughes or Hronek allowing Cole or Soucy to run their own 3rd pair
