I think Krebs is worth more to us as a good tenacious 3rd line center than a late first and a late second.

Ppl see Krebs listed on the “4th” line on this site & think he’s a bust for us
But that couldn’t be further from the truth

1st, if u look at the icetime you’d see that’s not actually the 4th line
2nd, that line plays a very tough role, going up against other teams’ top lines every night

Being able to trust a young Center like Krebs in that role should show u guys that he really is quite valuable to us
Krebs has been developing nicely into a defensive Center
He’s not going anywhere

Girgensons(A)-Krebs-Okposo(C) is basically our “shutdown” line- & they’ll continue to get plenty of icetime

I agree. I would be happy to trade Mittlestadt, sign Krebs to a 3 year bridge for cheaper as our 3rd line center. At this point Mitttlestadt has trade value and will cost the Sabres 4-5 mil. I agree that we should spend 3-5 mil. on a second RD - vet with playoff experience or a promising prospect. Time for young guys to fill in on the front end

Yeah definitely a big Krebs fan, just wasn't sure if the Sabres would keep Mittelstadt or Krebs

It would be very unlikely that the Sabre would be trading Krebs who will be cost controlled for the next 3 years or more.
Newhook (63 pts over the past TWO seasons of 153 games) certainly should have set the market for Casey Mittelstadt (59 pts last season and 100 pts over his last 163 games).
The Sabrea are in a most fortunate situation.
They have a fistfull of prospects who could be better than the players they have in the NHL.
It would be likely that Casey would be traded over Krebs, not because Krebs is better, but rather Casey should return a significant return, much more than Newhook (31st and 37th OA).

While most Sabre ACGM's will disagree with me, Olofsson should return more than a mere third.
His cap hit is half, had more goals than DeBrincat last year while playing 500 fewer minutes, and did not have Pinto and Batherson as his primary line mates.
Victor has more goals over the past four seasons than Boeser and has a lower cap hit of nearly $2,000,000.
He will most likely be traded not because he is a one trick pony (who does that trick really well), but rather Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund and Benson combined cap will be less than his this year.

I see too many Sabre ACGM's diminish the value of his scoring prowess and over look that DeBrincat had a much worse +/- than his.
ONLY 23 NHL forwards scored faster than his 1.6 goals/60 min, that is a really good pony trick.
I would not suggest that he would return equal to Alex, but certainly significantly more than a third.

I could see an NHL GM viewing Casey and Victor as two thirds of a second line in exchange for a top 4 RHD.

The problem I have with this is they have no chemistry together. Together they might make up 1/3 of your middle 6 though. Frankly I'm a much bigger olofsson supporter. He has a world class shot, and for the holes in his game, that's still there. I see mittelstadt as a player that isn't fast or physical, playing a position (center) where his defense, or lack thereof, actually does matter. That's a guy that I don't wanna rely on at gut check time. And I realize most Sabres fans would disagree. And I simply don't care.

Agree with pretty much all of this
I don’t think the Sabres/Adams are in a hurry to trade away Mitts, or Olofsson, or anyone else in our forward group

They seemingly wanna take their time promoting the kids (Kulich, Savoie, and so on), and it’s perfectly reasonable for them to approach it that way

If the *RIGHT* trade comes up, i do think Adams will pull the trigger- he’s smart enough to know there isn’t room for all of our assets we’ve been stockpiling
But i also don’t think he’s gonna waste them for just 1 year of guys like Hellebuyck, Hanifin, etc
If that was in the cards, he could’ve already pulled those deals off- and I’m frankly glad he didn’t

The assumption u seem to be making is that Mitts & Olofsson *have* to play on the same line
Especially with Quinn out for a bit, i don’t think that’s true

This team is still figuring out those kinds of details though
And while it would certainly be nice to have all the answers now- it’s ok that we don’t
