Hawks will probably want a 3rd. Don't think they'd rate Thomson that highly.

Not a fan of Joseph, he’s extremely overpaid for what he brings to the ice. Thomson and a 4th don’t move the needle enough for me to want to take on Joseph’s $2.95m cap hit for the next three seasons.

I'm curious how KD views Lassi. The Hawks don't have any young RD prospects ready for the NHL. It's all vets and super young prospects. Might not be the worst thing to play Lassi over Zaitsev. That's what I'd been calling for with Mitchell/Regula...now with BOS. Just an interesting development is all.

I agree with exo. Lassi still has a few more years to grow into a solid top 4 RD. I'd be willing to take a swing at him.

Lassi is just a larger body version of Mitchell. Offensive D man who struggles in his own end. Little bit more size and a much better shot. To me, he's never more than a 3rd pair guy who plays on the 2nd PP unit as well. I'd place his value at like a 3rd.

But he's better than Zaitsev? Whether it's Mitchell/Regula/Lassi...I just don't understand why Zaitsev is playing. Let's actually develop some Dmen, you know?

No doubt. 100% agree. I'm all for giving Thomson a shot on 3rd pair over Zaitsev. I just don't think Thomson will ever be a top 4 RD. He doesn't have enough value that the Hawks take on 3 years of Joseph for him and a 4th. Hawks need a better pick.
