Why do TOR fans want to remove Brodie without providing any remotely competent replacement? The RD position is very weak for a contending team.

Almost no teams can afford any kind of cap hit. Flat cap has screwed every competitive team

The Flames are over the cap limit now, with only 21 of 23 roster slots filled, and this deal would add $2.25 million to their problem. I think that Calgary isn't the place for Brodie.

Based on how Brodie finished the year, this statement is debatable. Add on the players ages, the cap retention, the cap hit and and the actual dollar amounts of both players, along with the fact Toronto is negotiating from a position of weakness with the the need to become cap compliant, and their need to have a tough, mean defenseman in their line up, and one would could easily argue that the sweeteners need to be better.

That and everyone seeming to have a NTC clause now a days, so you can't ship them off to the basement dwellers who do have the cap space. It will be nice to see it start rising again.
