No. Bad deal for the penguins, and the sharks honestly. the 2.5M retention on Karlsson is whipped out by sending Benning and Knyzhov.

Pass.

Cus every player they got only has one year left and get rid of Laine who's not a Babcock style of player. They also get a first and second round pick. The players they got could have decent years. Sharks hope to get the best out of Laine.

Never said it didn't work, just saying it's not a good deal. You're also then running a 21 man roster, and I highly doubt Yager see the NHL this season and that has $4.2M in dead money on a team that's trying to win now, that's awful asset management.

Penguins do not have room/need for all the extra scraps coming back from SJ. Nor would I want EK at $9.25M for 4 more years until he turns 37.

Do you really think they would have hired Babcock if they thought he'd be a problem with their star players?

Laine isn't a star player in my opinion. I think if they move him they would have talked about it before. They definitely would have a plan in place.

That's nice that you have that opinion, but he's absolutely one of their star players and there is zero reason to believe he is on the trading block.

Easy Pens decline. Overpay. Only interested in Karlsson, not the rest of that garbage. Not enough retention.

Well I think Brayden Yager signs and plays this season. Also I think the return isn't bad at all. Four years of Erik Karlsson doesn't matter. You're getting him for two years and hope to win a cup. Extra scraps is irrelevant and you're making it a big deal. Can send players down so it's not a problem. They also got rid of scraps getting rid of Petry, Granlund and Rutta

108 points in 111 games over the last two seasons. Yes, he's a star player for Columbus along with Gaudreau and Werenski.

You're the one who's theoretically moving a top-10 pick for him. It's the same circular argument CBJ fans had with Boone Jenner in the spring: "player we need" -> "we're not trading him" -> "well he sucks" -> "why are you trading for him then?"

If you think he helps the Sharks, yeah, it's not a bad starting point for a trade; if you start backtracking as soon as we say it doesn't make sense for us, and then poke back with reasons why our player sucks/isn't worth it, that's tacky.

They aren't waiver exempt two way contracts though, so again you're using awful asset mismanagement having to bury $4.2M. That could be spent much much more wisely.

Yager won't see time this year unless the team is done and out by the tdl
