Can't see the Canes trading two impact players to a rival contender, with retention, for a futures heavy return. Thry need 1 for 1 deals.

They have 99,333k in cap space, so it's 99,133k more than they started last year.

This is if they were dead set on EK65, they'd still have plenty of room to improve with 3 First round picks and 4 Second round picks in the next 3 years

Ridiculous to think a 20m roster and six NHL Dmen is practical. Bonuses likely kick in which reduces the cap for next year.

This is quite the overpay. Both are good players but neither is worth 2 1sts and, personally, I'd be hesitant to offer even one 1st for Teuvo- let alone the rest of the assets. It reads as follows:

Pesce (50%) for Broberg, Ceci, '24 1st, '26 2nd, and '25 3rd
Teuvo for Bourgault & '25 1st

Do you believe that Pesce will play Ceci's role THAT much better to justify such a package? Even if I assume you're operating under the premise that he extends in EDM, I'd still call it an overpay. As for the Teuvo portion, you're effectively looking at Bourgault and a 1st for the right to rent a strictly-W version of Nuge.

Tarevainen isn't worth more than a 5th round pick at this point. $5.4M for a guy who can't shoot is pretty dismal. Carolina would gladly move him for next to nothing so they can use his cap space on a top-6 player.
