the problem with these types of trades is that you’re giving away proven, high-end players (with some term in the case of connor and ehlers) for pieces that won’t make an immediate or even short-term impact, if they make any impact at all (picks can always bust out). these moves scream rebuild but this roster is now set up to suck for a long time and help is a long ways off. when you boil these trades down, you’re essentially trading hellebuyck, connor, ehlers and nino for novak, vanecek a rental teravainen and two late firsts that are years away from even being *drafted*. that is awful value
