They were one of the youngest team in the league last year , theyre still getting better and they added chychrun at the end of the season. Yeah they lost Debrincat but they gained Norris back from injury and Kubalik will help the depth. And Greig makes it fulltime now. Chabot, Batherson and Joseph all played bad last year and should rebound. Stutzle should hit 100+ pts and Tkachuk about 90.

I'm sorry, but that many prospects in the bottom 6 along with mediocre goaltending aren't indicators of a strong playoff team. If those young guys are as good as they're hyped up to be, then Ottawa is in good shape. But if consistency issues happen, then we are looking at the same thing we've seen for a while: A very fun team to watch that only wins about half their games.

they have 3 potential 40pt + defenders and potentially 7 guys that could get them 20+ goals. Barring any major injuries or mediocre goaltending, they should be a playoff team. Both Korpi and Forsberg are solid. If the Avs can make it with Georgiev/Francouz, the Sens could too

You used the word potential too many times to describe a sure playoff team. And I'll be the first to admit that the Avs' situation could've EASILY gone the other way (and almost did) last year. Remember, we were out of the playoff picture for about a month in January. We're lucky Georgiev worked out the way he did.

All this conversation is not needed. You have Kessel on the top line. That speaks to where the team will go.

Who cares who plays with Stutzle and Tkachuk. Stutzle will get 100+ and Tkachuk is good for about 90

Nope, just a guy who saw them just finish 6th.

Cry about Norris, but how often do 5 key players all play 82 games and like 10 key guys play 75?

Then subtract debrincat and factor in the 5 teams in front of them and boom. 6th again

Super normal to go right to an insult tho

SENs are about as far from ‘very strong’ playoff team as this take is from ‘informed hockey analysis’.
4teams finished between them & playoffs last year; they’ve lost deBrincat and (potentially if rumours are true) batherson if he is one of the world junior players the nhl suspends. They have a chance but leafs, panthers, lightning, bruins & Sabres are all better in the Atlantic

I remember when Mackinnon and Rantanen got to play with Sven Andrighetto. Worked well. We had a really successful 48 point season.

they may have lost Debrincat but they gained Norris, Chychrun, Kubalik and Korpisalo

Norris was on the team - injuries happen 🤷🏻; kubalik is a downgrade; chycrun is overrated & korpisalo is far from guarantee (big gamble).

There are not really all prospects in this bottom 6. But Sens does have a good cupboard for them. Here is my honest take on them.
Pinto is already almost a top 6 C, and is a great 3 C at 22 that is a great place to be. He had to play the top 6 minutes last season for stretches and didn't see that far off. He is great in the faceoff circle, tall a great playmaker and has show grown in his whole 200 ft game since going pro.

Grieg is NHL-ready and will fit in nicely on the 3rd line this year. If he continues to develop at the pace he has been on he will be a good top 6 winger. He played very well in the 20 games he got called up for last season 9 pts in 20 gms and 15 goals in 39 gms in AHL.

Sanderson is going to be a future top D on the team and very well could be a top 10 in the league. Not mentioned in any ACGM is also Kleven at 6'4 he was teammates with Sanderson and Pinto at North Dakota, hits hard, shots hard, a big-time comparable to Phaneuf in many ways. He will play full minutes AHl this season and then very likely be on the team and a future top 4 D after this season.

Kastliec is exactly what he is and going to probably be there for a while. I would not consider him a prospect anymore. At 6'4 and age 24 he is a long-term 4 C that is physical, good defensively, and decent in faceoff dot. With a league min contract for this and next season nothing wrong there at all, I would have him as my 4C for the next 5 years.

Smekjal is not a prospect, despite being on ELC and coming from overseas. He is 26 and in the same vein as Kastlic, Kelley, and MacEwan is a large physical, and hard to play against 4th liner.
Any combo of those 4 players as the 4th line is going to wear down, bruise, and frustrate every team this coming season.

While the team is banking a lot on Korpy coming in and doing well. There is also Sogaard in the system he is still only 22 but a 6'8 monster from Denmark that played 3 full seasons in the WHL on a horrible medicene Hat team that dragged them into the playoffs and won WHL goalie of the year. during covid, he went back to Europe and took his team to the league finals. He has had a rough transition to the AHl not being able to get his GAA below 2.5 however Belleville has been pretty bad the last two seasons as well. Hopefully this season he can get back on the development track he was on.

Sens also have 6'5 winger Sokolov who played in the Q and is not as much of a scorer as originally hyped, 19 G and 21 G in the last two AHL seasons, but still has the potential to grow into a good 3rd line player that could get you 10-15 goals a season in the NHL.

Sanderson aside, every other NHL team has a cupboard of prospects that they can give similar AHL or overseas stats. Until these guys actually play a full season of NHL hockey, they are unknowns. Just the way it is. I really do hope it works out this year. I'd like to see Ottawa make a splash.

Sure. Sure. Edmonton has been saying that for years. What do Edmonton fans call it: the dark ages.
