If we were to trade John Gibson, that wouldn't be the return I'd want from Buffalo. If we're not getting Jack Quinn or a first-round draft pick, I'd just find another partner. And if that's the best offer we get, then I'd just keep him until the trade deadline.

Trust me my friend you won’t get even close to a Jack Quinn-type of package back for John Gibson. Isak Rosén is a former 13# OA prospect, a 3rd and a decent player in Victor Olofsson who they can flip (50% retained) at the TDL.

You're way off if you think Gibson would return a player like Jack Quinn. Rosen is a recent first round pick that trending up.

I just heard somebody on the radio, I think Larkin, say that Rosen is the young player who could replace Quinn while he recovers from his injury. Said they are similar players, and mentioned how much the teams keyed on him during the ahl playoffs.

I've never really thought about rosen being the player getting called up while Quinn is hurt but that would be interesting

Perhaps true, but unfortunately he's 40 pounds under Pat Verbeek's weight limit.

You know that feeling you immediately got when you saw Olofsson's and Comrie's name in the outgoing box? Well, that's exactly the opposite of the feeling we get when we see John Gibson's name in the corresponding box.

Trades have to be fair to be realistic. Olofsson (who's probably one of the three most-often-traded Sabres on CF) and Comrie and even Rosen are superfluous pieces to you guys. Gibson isn't, to us. If you're not going to give up something of value, then why should we? And if you're going to say "he's been bad for x number of years, so his value is low," then why do you want to pay him $25.6 million to be on your roster for four seasons?

I have a hard time believing that Rosen would win out over Kulich - not only because of a less-finished offensive skillset at this point but also because Rosen's physical stature isn't quite NHL-ready like Kulich's is. Of course, anything can happen in training camp and Rosen could outperform Kulich to earn Quinn's spot but, based on what we saw in Rochester from both of them, Kulich seems like the more NHL-ready option of the two. If he has a strong camp to back up what he did in Rochester last year, Kulich seems like a more worthy promotion as well IMO.

A darkhorse that most are assuming to be a 13th forward but who could win the replacement role is Rousek - his 2-way game already earned praise and trust from Granato and Appert. There may be less of a risk in plugging him into the top 9 than either Rosen or Kulich.

I'm also not ruling out the possibility of Savoie having an enormous camp and winning the spot outright. The question is how much his offseason training will have added more strength and mass to compensate for his size.
