Lucky that you aren't our gm. You destroy our future for an old defender who requested a trade, nice.

Need to add a 2nd to that 3rd, otherwise you will need to buyout Granlund. Rebuilding teams (the one's with the cap space to take on full Granlund) are not taking on 11 million in salary commitments for 3rd round picks 3 drafts out.

I would argue that the price to move Granlund and his two remaining years as a cap dump STARTS with a 1st. If you can find a team that actually needs a centre and thinks he can help them then the price may be less. The problem is most competitive teams are capped out, so the Penguins would need to take a contract back.

Genuine question. Can you find an example in the last 5-6 years of a team paying a first to move a player like Granlund?

I don't think Petry waives for SJS, and I don't think a third team is interested in 4 years of retention, honestly think that's part of the hold up in this deal for both CAR and PIT

Thank for sharing, this is actually helpful and interesting to see. I was legit curious cause I couldn't think of any to be honest.

I think a 1st to move Granlund is definitely way too much after seeing some of these. Marleau was 39 and making $6M so the 1st makes sense just given his age and AAV. Monahan also makes sense as he fell off hard and had a hip injury.

I know Granlund has declined a bit but only 31 and has basically stayed healthy the majority of his NHL career, so to me there is zero reason he costs a 1st. Yes he's a cap dump, but it's not as though he's unplayable.
