Description
Leafs get Karlsson for $3.5M, Sharks get 40 goal Nylander, replacement offensive Klingberg whose future contract is manageable, winger Lafferty and a pick. For $4M retention Ducks get upside Robertson, 2 Stanley cup goalie Murray and 2 picks. If Murray healthy, he's good. If on LTIR no pain. Note: Can be other team than Anaheim, package the same.

    Not really. Nylander has huge value. Klingberg is a cheaper Karlsson. Laffetty and picks were a throw in.

    No Robo is nowhere near a top prospect and Murray is only a cap dump

    I mean Murray only has 1 year left, so it is only 1 year of retention... Robertson might not be a true top prospect, but he probably is the Leafs top prospect. Either way, still a garbage trade for the Ducks.

    Popped this in your other ACGM, but look at Marleau's cap dump trade from Toronto to Carolina where $6.25M for 1 year cost a 1st and a 7th.

    I think $16M of retention on Karlsson would cost at least 2 1st round picks.

    Retaining Karlsson is 4 years. Murray is a single year

    Sorry to break it to you, but Murray doesn't have much value. It would actually cost Toronto to get rid of his $4.6M.

    But if you expect a 3rd party team to retain $4M for 4 years, you would be looking at Toronto having to give them multiple 1st round picks.

    With all due respect, I think adding firsts is what you hope you get whereas I think that market is softer. Perhaps there is some middle ground.
