Big guys like Soderblom will need time to develop (especially coming from the big ice to smaller ice). Even if he stays all year in GR this season, he's still in DET's plans.

That being said, if I'm MTL, I don't trade Mesar for Soderblom due to timeline. MTL isn't ready to compete yet, and probably will closer be when Mesar is ready. He's a Swiss Army type guy. I think both will be good players in the NHL, they are just at different points of their timeline.

Size is a big factor for Montreal amongst the deep group of forward prospects. We need to trade some speed and skill for size and skill IMO.

Yzerman had Soderblom on the opening night roster right out of camp, Yzerman prefers to let prospects over ripen in the minors so I think it shows how high he is on Soderblom. So I wouldn't expect Soderblom to be traded at least for a couple of seasons.
