Am I crazy for being ok with trading for DeBrincat without an extension? Play on the reduced 1 year QO

Lou has half a season to sell ADB on an extension. He can explore the community, facilities, schools etc. If ADB won’t sign, flip him at the deadline and recoup those assets.

Worst case, you freed up (at least) $5m ahead of a stacked FA class. And if ADB likes Long Island, maybe $8x8 or so is enough for him after all.

DeBrincat would be a game changer. A top line of ADB-Horvat-Barzal would be one of the best in the league. I think now is about time to take a calculated risk. Lou will have a few months to get an extension done, but first things first we need ADB in the front door

Ottawa should accept this trade IMO.

However, given that DJ Smith and Jack Capuano are coaching our team, I think the folks running our team would be more interested in someone like Matt Martin instead of Wahlstrom.

And unlike some people on here, I think Pageau is worth the contract he's signed to.

I don’t think many people don’t think he’s not worth his contract. I think he’s not worth his contract to Ottawa. If there is one position that is perfectly slotted on their roster, it’s center. Stutzle, Noris, Pinto, Kastalic. And all are perfect for their line role both in play and salary.

So where do you play Pageau? His salary isn’t worth it if he is playing on the wing on the third or fourth line.

That’s the issue for Ottawa… I think Pageau to a third team in need of a center, with those assets to Ottawa instead makes way more sense.
