I don't think that's the argument you want to make here. A playoff run is far from signing a long term contract. I highly doubt Stamkos going to want to leave. He's staying in Tampa for his career. If he doesn't and wants a run only to resign in the summer, why wouldn't he pick TO?

But in any case, I would say this is pretty much as unlikely a scenario as there can be.

He’s won two cups and TB is getting older, what’s keeping him there? TO can’t even afford him anyways so it would purely be a rental trade. Guy can head into the off-season and make bank as a UFA wherever he wants.
