Détails additionnels:
PLD deal seems like a good barometer for this trade. OTT has even less leverage than WPG did so I feel like this is a realistic expectation. Could also see Yzerman swapping out the 2nd for the Boston 1st to keep Bergy

Why on earth do Red Wings fans think they're gonna get cat for Kubalik and an 2nd lol?

Maybe, though I think everyone in Detroit is overvaluing Bergy a bit. He's a nice player who showed lots of poise last year, but he's not a 30G/60P guy. More of a middle sixer setup man.

Because Dorion has no leverage. Like I said, go look at the PLD deal as a comp.

Brother thats so much work not to give OTT the 1st.

Cant we all just agree Berggen + Lower of your 2024 1sts? Then we can skip the jawing back and forth for the rest of time while this trade traps us in purgatory

Please please it's Detroit's biggest problem and debrincats strength just get it done. When was the last time a player wanted to come to Detroit. If they drag thier feet they'll miss out like PLD to LA

I don't disagree, but it seems like the hold up is what his contract will look like, not the return OTT is asking for.

They can have that French Canadian bum. I was glad Detroit wasn't ever interested in him.

Lol as someone who has no skin in the game I feel like the sens could get more than that for him at the deadline as a pure rental.

Later of the firsts, kubliak, and an okay prospect is more than fair

But Kubalik and a 2nd is nowhere near close to what the Jets got. Even if we assume Dorion has little leverage, Debrincat is still worth 1st/2nd, good prospect and a roster player.

To me:

Vilardi>Berggren
Iafallo>Kubalik
Hanas = Kupari (wash imo)
2nd round pick

So it's true that Debrincat's value is lower than PLD's and I think your original offer is actual fair given this market. But I can't see a world where Dorion trades Debrincat for a 2nd and 1 year of Kubalik. He'd certainly get more for him at the deadline. Sens and Wings fans will disagree throughout this whole debacle until the cat gets traded. You seem to be a realist though.

He's not a 30G 60PT guy yet. He's only had one full season at the NHL level.

David Pastrnak's first two seasons in the NHL and first AHL season
25GP 11G 17A 28PTS (AHL) (1.12PPG)
97GP 25G 28A 53PTS (NHL) (0.54PPG)
You could also say he was a a nice player who showed lots of poise, but he's not a 30G/60P guy.

Jonatan Berggrens first AHL season plus first NHL season
70GP 21G 43A 64PTS (AHL) (0.91PPG)
67GP 15G 13A 28PTS (NHL) (0.41PPG)
We value him on what he could become, not what he was able to achieve in his rookie season in the NHL. I'm not saying he'll be as good as Pasta, I know he won't be. But will he be a 30G 60Pts guy once he's had a few seasons under his belt? Very likely. Berggren is a drafted and Detroit developed talent and he's not going anywhere.

No Berggren for Ottawa.
No DeBrincat for Detroit.

So be it.

I think its fair to say we're all just ready for this to be done. Either that or for Ottawa to just sign him to his QO so that the world can move on.

I'm reminded of a John Spencer line from the last season of The West Wing: "One night of this is entertaining. Two nights, we look like idiots."

Ugh, god those deals/players are so mid. I'm willing to reserve final judgement on Copper because he was recovering from a core muscle injury and looked much better in the second half of the season. But yeah not in love with either of those deals. 15+ mil for those two and Chiarot doesn't look good.
